Macworld keynote 2008: My prediction

AT&T’s wireless data network will be brought to its knees when millions of iPhone users suddenly begin constantly reloading live-coverage web pages.

  1. Unlikely, in that AT&T’s wireless network is sort of on its knees on a day to day basis already. :)

Really this should not be the case—the data to get an incremental update on a liveblog of the keynote is the equivalent of a teeny fraction of a second of voice traffic. There is no rational reason why a properly designed network shouldn’t be able to handle far more than that.

However, no one has ever accused AT&T, er, Cingular, er, AT&T, of proper network design.
